The Problem
The marketing team had a manual and tedious process to update the policy holder’s home screen. This screen gets millions of views each year and enables the customer to get key data on their policy, take important actions, and receive important content. They had to work with the IT department each time they wanted to an update, resulting in high coordination costs each time. Secondarily, the client wanted to enable faster product iteration and reduce development time for new product features.
The Approach
There were two use cases to consider: publishing content and controlling the layout of static and dynamic widgets on the page. Our technical staff helped determine the best approach to enable both use cases and future-proof for faster product iterations. We helped re-architect the application, which included moving the backend to the cloud to support flexible data components created using a modern frontend framework. We highly customized and integrated a content management system to allow the marketing team to configure the layout of static and dynamic widgets on the page using user-friendly tools. As part of the move to the cloud, we utilized containerization and serverless computing to optimize compute resources, and microservices with CI/CD to enable rapid product iteration.
The Results
As part of a re-architecture of the frontend, we enabled the marketing team to take full control of the layout and content of the customer home page and save 50% effort. They can now deliver richer, more relevant content faster to their customers.
Serverless and containerization saved approximately 40% in infrastructure costs. Re-designing for microservices and implementing CI/CD will allow the team to save 75% effort in their upcoming feature release.
